How does the 3D editor work?

  • The 'editor' consists of different components.
  • The 'Viewport' is where you work on your design. Here you can add, select, move, or modify objects.
  • In the top right of the Viewport, you'll find a button to show graphical statistics and a button to adjust viewport lighting. In practice, you rarely need these options.
  • Above the viewport, you'll find the menu bar.
  • The dropdown menu lets you save or export your designs.
  • Next to the dropdown menu, you'll find buttons and tools to move, rotate, or scale your object.
  • The last field lets you change the interface language.
  • On the right side, you'll find a list of all objects in your design.
  • Clicking an object here selects it in the Viewport.
  • Right-clicking allows you to change object names and create groups for better organization.
  • Below the object list, you'll find a panel with properties of the selected object. Besides the standard properties that describe position in the world, each type of object has separate settings. You'll find these in the bottom window.
  • Directly below the viewport is a library with all objects and other content you can add to your design.
  • Here you'll find special default elements as well as collections of objects you've set up in the backend. Simply click an object to add it to your design.
