How do I share a design (as a file)?
To share a 3D design (or archiving it), you can also export it as a separate file. You can then load this file in another application, or share it with another person who can import it into the 3D editor.
Exporting and importing is done via the dropdown menu in the top left of the screen.
There are two options for exporting your design:
- Export legacy .spoke project: This exports your design to a file format specific to this 3D editor. Use this to share your design with other people who use this editor. This maintains all settings, object names and groups.
- Export as .gltf/.glb file: This is a universal file format for 3D models. Use this to convert your design into a .glb file that you can load into other 3D design applications. With this format, you lose the groups, object names and other settings that are specific to the editor.
Exporting and importing a .spoke file
To export:
- First save your design and open the menu in the top left.
- Select 'Export legacy .spoke project'
- Save the file under the desired name.
- You can now share the file with others.
To import:
- Create a new 3D project (or add a new 3D location to an existing project). You can choose any template for this, as we will overwrite it anyway.
- Open the 3D location in the 3D editor
- Go to the same menu in the top left and now choose 'Import legacy .spoke project'
- Choose the file you want to import, you will get an additional warning that this will overwrite your current project.
- After importing, save your project and close the editor.
